Daily life at Turratots
Each day experiences are planned indoors and outdoors, based on the children’s interests.
# Creative arts: painting, drawing with a range of media/clay/dough and 3d construction
# Problem-solving : puzzles, block construction, games, science experiments
# Projects: small and large group experiences promoting high order thinking skills
# Environmental sustainability by recycling, taking care of the worm farm and watering the garden
# Storytelling and literacy experiences
# Music and movement
# Imaginary/role play
# Learning social skills of sharing, helping and independence in performing everyday tasks.
We do follow a daily routine but we are also flexible to cater for children’s interests, weather restrictions and the dynamic of the group.
The children ( no matter what age) can be part of socializing, sharing ideas and expressing thoughts and feelings.
Visitors, especially parents are invited to talk to the children or participate in special activities. We also arrange incursions to the centre and on occasionally visit Cameron Park and Turramurra Library with small groups of children.
Although we provide a school readiness programme in the preschool for the year before school, our philosophy is supporting children’s learning through a play-based environment as we know through research that this is the most effective way for young minds to absorb and make sense of new information.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our beautiful centre.
