    Our Philosophy & Mission Statement

    Our mission is:

to provide the best quality ‘take-a-break’ care to meet the demands of the community. TurraTots shall provide a loving, happy, caring, learning and safe environment for the nurturing of the whole child and support of the family. The Centre shall always strive for quality facilities, equipment and service, creating a great place for children and staff. It will uphold the Uniting Church’s moral and spiritual philosophies and act as a bridge between the Church and the community.

    Our philosophy is:
    – to create a warm, caring, safe and stimulating environment which, we believe, comes directly from the staff employed to look after the children.
    – to provide an environment that is embracing of differences within children and families and complementary to each child’s home environment.
    – to provide an educational program that is appropriate to each child’s individual needs, assisting physical, mental and psychological development.
    – to encourage children to explore and discover their environment and how it relates to them. Staff will encourage a positive approach to behaviour and provide guidance to conflict situations that will foster self-control and so enhance the child’s social and emotional development.
    – to ensure that each child has the right to be respected and is given dignity as an individual.
    – to be a non-profit-making organisation, through careful and efficient financial management. All monies made shall be used for the development, operation and maintenance of facilities, services and equipment.
    – to welcome children and families of all faiths and cultural backgrounds and create a bridge between the Turramurra Uniting Church parish and the community, thus serving the community by providing quality occasional care. We are committed to the Uniting Church’s statement of purpose. Members of staff are committed to upholding and encouraging our Christian vision.
    – to provide support for the families in the community through occasional child care and other appropriate activities.
    – to evaluate continually all aspects of the occasional child care environment to improve quality and to foster positive experiences for everyone involved in the Centre.
    – to provide ongoing communication with parents and families as part of planning and developing the services.
