What to Bring to TurraTots
In the Bag
Each child needs to bring a bag containing:
– Food and drinks
– Spare clothing
– Comforters (if necessary)
– Medications (if applicable)
Labelling
The bag, all food containers, all items of clothing, including spare clothing, and any medications must be clearly labelled.
Food & Drinks
Morning Tea
Please supply fruit — cut into small pieces and put in a small plastic container. Yoghurt and cheese are also acceptable as long as there is also fruit.
Lunch
Please provide sandwiches. Do not wrap food in plastic wrap. Please use lunch wrap. No plastic bags are to be left in children’s bags. A healthy lunch may also include a small tub of yoghurt, a piece of cheese, fruit, dried fruit, veggies or cold pasta. Please do not pack chips, lollies, chocolate or biscuits in children’s lunches.
A Drink Bottle
Hydration is important even for a young child.
Keeping Food Fresh
All food requiring refrigeration is moved regularly from the drop-off trolley and baskets to the fridge.
Food Safety
For the safety of the toddlers at the TurraTots who might pick up food from the floor, please do not pack popcorn or pieces of carrot. These can be a choking hazard.
Allergy Awareness
TurraTots is an allergy aware centre. Please consider all the children who attend the Centre when preparing food for your child or children to consume at TurraTots. Remember not to pack foods containing nuts, nut spreads or traces of nuts. Please also consider not packing egg or seafood.
Spare Clothing
Please pack a full set of spare clothing as well as several pairs of underpants (accidents do happen) or enough nappies for the day or session.
Comforters
If necessary, please pack a comforter such as a dummy or muslin wrap, favourite animal or toy. Please ensure these are labelled so they can be returned.
Medications
All medication must me fully labelled, handed to the Director or Nurse and the medication–instruction book must be completed. No medications are to be left in children’s bags.
For Babies
Please pack everything your baby will need for the day: bottles, food, changes of clothes, nappies, etc. All baby bottles must be prepared ready for heating by staff.
Parking
There is usually plenty of parking available at the Council Car Park next to Turramurra Uniting Church hall and there is a very short walk down the sealed pathway to TurraTots.
On-street parking (Fifteen minute parking) is permitted on the street in front of the Centre for Seniors bowling/croquet green.
Parking is permitted in the TurraTots driveway area in front of the Centre where we operate a four-car, one-way, drive-through system. However, this can become blocked and we encourage parents to park at the Council Car Park and walk down.
